Romantic Casemates Square At Night.
One of the reasons why so many people choose to get married here.
You can get a licence and be married in Gibraltar within 24 hours just like John Lennon and Yoko Ono did on March 20th 1969.

Soak Up The Atmosphere
Have A Coffee And Let The World Go By.
Cafe Society, Casemates Square.
Casemates Square used to be the old parade ground and was also used in the past for public hangings. Very different from its image today.

Does This Roof lift Off?
Barbary Apes are tail-less monkeys from North Africa. The famous legend has it that if the Apes disappear from the Rock, the British will leave. Winston Churchill didn’t like the sound of that so when their numbers became seriously depleted, he imported more apes from Morocco and if its true, as one of the locals told me. he ordered that they be fed twice a day and that still occurs to this day. Other than that, there is a £500 fine for anybody who feeds the apes. Be aware they are not just in the apes den. They like the scrub vegetation around the rock however, you’re not likely to see them in the centre of town. This sign was on a metal shed door near one of the bays.

Final Sailing From Gibraltar
It was 3pm and the top of the rock was teaming with tourists admiring the awesome views. The QE2 was clearly visible berthed in the luxury cruise liner dock near the airport. I was wondering how many days she would be staying. Someone mentioned she was due to leave at 5pm that day on her final departure from Gibraltar to Dubai where she would be transformed into a floating hotel. I wanted to be there on her last trip so, no time to lose, I squeezed into the next cable car descending the rock and raced over to the marina however, security was very tight and nobody was allowed near the QE2 dock so onto plan B, find a dolphin trip leaving before the QE2 sailed. Luckily Dolphin safari, reasonably priced, was leaving at 4.15pm. This trip would be excellent for my mission because they only take about 10 people not dozens which means you can take better pics without jostling for position.

First, we sailed close to the Spanish Coast where the dolphins are abundant early afternoon and there was plenty. I didn,t get any pics tho because I only had my mobile phone to take shots. I wasn’t quick enough. Our skipper timed it so the QE2 was just getting ready to leave as we got back. It was an amazing experience,we got so close to this magnificent world famous liner. Then to finish off the day, we sailed round the runway that juts into the sea when a plane came into land.It seemed as if it was just skimming over the top of our heads, thinking about it, it was!

So Close Can Almost Touch The Sides
The QE2 leaves Gibraltar and heads off to Dubai where she will be transformed into a floating hotel. I love this pic.

I thought we were sailing close, but check out the canoist at the very front of the ship. You can just make him out. You can see the line to the tug thats guiding her out, she’s moving but the canoist is undetered. Will take a good camera next time I am over there. Must remember in future, mobile for calls, camera for pics, lesson learned.
